Introduction course Orthodontics

In January 2008 the EAIO will start its third program in postgraduate orthodontic training for the general practitioner. In the extra introduction course the participant will get an overview of what will be presented in the Orthodontic program.
 
This program will consist of two series of 6 units. Each unit will consists of a 3 day course in which different topics in orthodontics will be fully covered. Topics for the first and basic serie will be;

  • facial analysis
  • cephalometric analysis
  • virtual model technology and principles of indirect bonding
  • non extraction therapy
  • extraction therapy
  • how to achieve the optimum esthetic smile
  • what is facial driven orthodontics

 

  • difference between friction- and frictionless systems
  • myofunctional therapy

    

  • is there a reason to start a 2 phase treatment and if so when?
  • mechanics for different treatment strategies

 

Topics for the second or master series will be:

  • orthodontics and temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain
  • orthodontics and implantology
  • orthodontics and periodontology
  • osteotomies: ethetics or function?
  • the class II treatment; the functional way
  • introduction in understanding cleft lip and palate
  • mechanics for the different treatment strategies
